Dominant Garuda Victory in the Portugal Gran Prix.

Portugal is a track that visibly suits the Garuda, as we have seen in practice. Ingledew was the fastest driver on track with her teammate close behind, Chu lagging 2 tenths behind.

Garuda Racing Car

"The car feels good, the new updates to the brakes give us opportunity to challenge for a win", said Ingledew after practice ended. Practice also seemed to dictate some changes on Eastwood Racing Team's car, as the pair managed to lap consistently quick.

A beautiful day marked the start of the race where strategy seemed to differ between the backmarkers and the front-runners, as the former ran on softs except for Rovel, the former running super softs for both their drivers . As the race begun this strategy proved correct as both cars launched off the start line the quickest but the mistake of Huafang Nuramat in turn 1 backed up the grid behind him, thus not letting the Rovel's pass in the beginning stages of the race. Ingledew managed to quickly overtake most of the bunched up cars on lap 2, jumping quickly into 11th place while her teammate and championship rival remained stuck behind the slower midfielders. A mistake from Dreyfuss allowed the laggards to catch back up to Ingledew. This squabble in the midfield did allow De Oeste to lead the race up until this point.

Chu was stuck to Ingledew's diffuser as the two were fighting their way up the field, and Chu managed to snatch p2 after an overtake on lap 11th. This left the Thai driver only to catch up to the Vexala driver in a bid to lead the race. As the strategies unfolded though, Chu had to pit on lap 15 for a new set of tyres as the super softs seemed to wear off quickly in the portugese heat, while Garuda's drivers both stayed out on their softs. A mistake from Jones on lap 18th following his late lounge for an overtake left the brit stranded in the gravel, but the officials deemed the race safe to continue under green flag conditions. On lap 20 Ingledew pitted for another set of softs and came out in front of her championship rival. As the race calmed down it seemed that Chu couldn't make up the gap and the thai national remained in 3rd for the race of the race, well behind his rival. Thus Garuda managed a strong 1-2 finnish with Ingledew at the forefront.

"I've had a great race, there has been great progress made at the factory and it shows. I am really pleased for this result and I'm anxious to show you what we can do." said Ingledew in the post race interview.

"I led the middle part of the race, I felt the car was driving really nice but the strategy of going back to super softs on the last pitstop robbed me of a win today. I can't say I'm sad about it but clearly the team made a decision and I have to accept it. This 1-2 finish is really good for the team and I'm confident we can keep this string of results coming." a somewhat distant Tomassi declared.

"I felt I had the pace today, but a couple of slow pitstops made me lose precious seconds. It's unfortunate, it's not the result I wanted for me, for the team. I could've challenged for 2nd to today, but it wasn't to be. We'll go back to the drawing board and we'll figure out what went wrong." Chu, Rovel Racing.

Verapool of the legendary Kruger Motorsport had a great race and finished 4th, her best result this season for the german team "I'm happy overall. The car is finnaly starting to come togheter. I'm expecting some great results this season, I can bet on it." Kruger has been seen as struggling and the future of their Race Chief is under scrutiny by the press and the fans as the team failed to deliver on its promises last season. While Verapool achieved a great result, the same cannot be said about her teammate, with a poor showing today of P13.

Two weeks are left until the Belgian Grand Prix, where we could see a better performance from Rovel, as the team unveiled a new power unit before the upcoming race, "We've built a brand new engine that has some fantastic performace, I can't wait to see it on track. It's unfortunate we couldn't use it today but otherwise I'm confident in a win in Belgium" Popoviciu stated in a media conference after the race today.

The championship seems to be as close as ever, Ingledew only 1 point ahead of Rovel's Chu; but in the constructors the indian outfit has incresed its gap significantly, something that Rovel has to work towards to win the championship and promote to the Asian Pacific Series.
